Today, we’re celebrating the fourth anniversary of Shanghai Disneyland’s opening in 2016 – a moment that is particularly meaningful to all of us, since it comes just over one month following the much-anticipated reopening of our park. Our recent phased reopening has been a memorable part of our journey, with each day bringing magic back to the resort, beginning with the return of the shopping and dining experiences at Disneytown and Wishing Star Park in March.
From Disneytown to Shanghai Disneyland, it has been wonderful to welcome our cast members and guests back to the magic. We’ve been encouraged by our guests’ overwhelmingly positive feedback and grateful for their support for new health and safety measures.
Over the past three months, guests have returned to Disneytown and rated it the highest since it opened in 2016. As we gradually increase capacity throughout the resort, we have also seen a steady increase in guests at our Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, and I am pleased to share that we have now reopened Toy Story Hotel as well.
Inside the park, we’ve taken another step forward with the return of our theater shows – “Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular” and “Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration” – and the opening of “Disney Color-Fest,” our colorful new seasonal show.
At Shanghai Disneyland, Mickey, Minnie, and friends are greeting our guests in new ways; guests are showing off their best Disney-inspired styles in the park; and fan-favorite attractions like TRON Lightcycle Power Run are thrilling visitors once again. While guests are falling in love with their old favorites all over again, they are also being treated to new offerings, including the opening of our new store, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Trading Post in Adventure Isle.
We are also extremely excited to welcome a new friend to the resort: ‘Olu Mel! This music-loving turtle from Hawaii has joined Duffy and his friends to delight guests, while appearing in a variety of new ways in the park.
June is also a big month for Donald and his fans! To celebrate his birthday, Donald is taking over the resort, with staycation and birthday offerings, and fun new merchandise and food and beverages, just in time for summer!
Thank you to all the guests who have joined us at the park over the past four years – and for those planning to visit us, we can’t wait to welcome you. It’s going to be a magical summer at Shanghai Disneyland!
Behind the Camera: That Perfect Picture from Shanghai Disneyland
As finishing touches were being put on Shanghai Disneyland shortly before its grand opening in 2016, I was lucky enough to spend more than a month at the park taking photos of attractions, restaurants and merchandise locations. In my almost 20 years as a photographer with The Walt Disney Company, I’ve been privileged to take photos all over the world, but this was the very first time I was part of “opening” a new park. It was even more exciting because it was the company’s first park in mainland China.
Bob Iger famously described the Shanghai Disneyland as “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese,” and I spent a long time looking for just the right image to capture the essence of that statement. The photo needed to blend Disney magic and China’s cultural spirit. To me, Enchanted Storybook Castle, with its celebration of all the Disney princesses, is the park’s centerpiece and a natural to represent Disney. So I kept walking in circles around the castle looking for a frame that included the castle and just the right piece of Chinese décor. Turns out, what I was looking for didn’t require any walking at all.
One day I took a trip on Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, the enchanting boat ride near the castle that includes scenes of characters from beloved Disney films. I was in the boat to take photos of the attraction, but I ended up finding the image I’d been searching for all this time.
As my boat rounded a bend in the river and we passed Mulan, I looked up and … there was the picture I was looking for. The beautiful golden dragon you see here was framed up perfectly with the castle in the background – and the lighting was just perfect. Of the thousands of pictures I took during my time in Shanghai, this one felt like it had the most “pixie dust” on it, given how it seemed to magically appear before my eyes.

Highlight #1: Celebrate Duffy Month with the Arrival of ‘Olu Mel !
Throughout September, guests are invited to enjoy all things cute, cuddly, and heartwarming as “A Month with Duffy and Friends” comes to Shanghai Disney Resort - and what better way to kick off this special celebration than with the arrival of Duffy’s new friend, ‘Olu Mel! This kindhearted, ukulele-playing turtle from Hawaii will greet guests for the first time at Shanghai Disneyland at a special Mickey Avenue welcome ceremony on September 1, 2020.
From September 1 through September 30, 2020, the new Duffy and Friends Celebrate Together show will bring the group’s stories of friendship and adventure to life on Mickey Avenue, while a fun new social wall, featuring Duffy and his friends enjoying an autumn picnic, will also serve as an idyllic photo backdrop for guests. Duffy and Friends fans looking to create unique memories with their favorite plush will also be able to create their own Duffy stories by posing their Duffy and Friends merchandise in a variety of cute, miniature settings dotted around Mickey Avenue.
Those looking for a tasty Duffy and Friends-themed treat can look forward to an exclusive assortment of delicious food and beverage items across the park. The Royal Banquet Hall in the Enchanted Storybook Castle proudly presents a new Duffy-themed set menu featuring multi-course offerings and the chance to see Duffy and Friends in person! Guests are also invited to enjoy a relaxing Duffy and Friends afternoon tea at Mickey & Pals Market Café, as well as a variety of Duffy-themed confections, including coffee-flavored Duffy the Disney Bear ice cream, fudge cakes, and ice cream waffle cones that are available throughout the resort.
Shanghai Disney Resort will also introduce new additions to the Duffy and Friends merchandise line. The new Duffy in the Garden collection features the fluffy friends dressed in new gardening gear, ready to enjoy the harvest season. In addition to cute Duffy and Friends plush and keychains, guests can also add a splash of modern rustic to their homes with plate sets, mugs and home decorations.
The resort’s two hotels will also serve as the perfect place to rest and relax during a multi-day Duffy-themed visit. In celebration of Duffy Month, the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel is introducing a special staycation package, inviting guests to experience special moments with Duffy and Friends. Available from today through September 24, 2020 via the Shanghai Disney Resort Official WeChat account and Shanghai Disney Resort Fliggy Flagship Store, this special package gives guests the chance to enjoy a memorable stay, complete with Duffy-themed room amenities and overlays, hotel breakfast, two tickets for admission to Shanghai Disneyland, and more!
Highlight #2: Dress Up and Discover Authentic Halloween Surprises Around Every Corner
Halloween is one of the biggest events in the Shanghai Disney Resort calendar, and from October 5 through November 1, 2020, the resort will transform into a spooky and mysterious expanse where guests of all ages can plunge into the fun of Halloween. As a highlight of the season, guests can dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating fun around Shanghai Disney Resort, immersing themselves in this happy holiday tradition. The guest-favorite Donald’s Halloween Treat Cavalcade will delight in the evenings, as Donald and Daisy Duck lead the way along the parade route in their Halloween costumes, joined by Mickey Mouse and the gang, Disney Villains, and spooky dancers. Guests can also get down with Jack Skellington and Sally from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” at the “This Is Halloween” Dance Party. Also this autumn guests can sing along with Miguel as the popular Coco-themed area returns to Adventure Isle from October 12 through November 8, 2020.
An exciting assortment of Halloween-themed merchandise and food and beverage offerings will also debut at a variety of locations throughout the resort to add to the hauntingly fun atmosphere. The Halloween Days of Spook-tacular on October 30 and 31 will feature numerous Disney characters, and DJs found across Shanghai Disneyland. Autumn is the season of harvest, and this year, for the first time, guests will be able to experience the joy of the harvest at the Disneytown Harvest Festival Market. Featuring a new Foodie Feast, Farmers Market and Folk Art Fairy, this new Disneytown Market allows guests to explore a range of exclusive experiences every weekend and during holidays from September 12 through October 8. Of course no harvest would be complete without a hearty selection of family meals, which is why, this autumn, Shanghai Disney Resort is also offering mouth-watering Mid-Autumn Festival and Thanksgiving family feasts.
Autumn is also a perfect time for the entire family to go outdoors and spend time in nature with the natural beauty of changing colors all around. The nature adventure in Wishing Star Park, which made its debut this past summer, will return by popular demand in autumn. With so much seasonal excitement and more on the way, a Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass is the perfect choice for guests wanting to enjoy multiple visits while saving big, with special discounts on dining, merchandise, hotel stays and in Disneytown. Guests looking to purchase an Annual Pass should note that due to high demand of the Silver Annual Pass, and in order to enhance the guest experience, the sale of the Shanghai Disneyland Silver Annual Pass is currently unavailable. Shanghai Disney Resort Launches New Sign Language Service for Mickey’s Storybook Express
Shanghai Disney Resort provides a place that is accessible for everyone to enjoy, including guests and Cast Members with disabilities, with the aim of creating A Magical Experience for All (MagicALL). Today, on the International Day of Sign Languages, the MagicALL program is expanded as Mickey’s Storybook Express becomes the latest entertainment experience to offer sign language interpretation services to guests. Today’s celebration continues with the resort’s first-ever Sign Language Week, which aims to educate guests about the importance of sign language.
“I am honored to be able to continue Disney’s long legacy of delivering magical experiences for all with the addition of this latest sign language service at Mickey’s Storybook Express,” said Joe Schott, President and General Manager, Shanghai Disney Resort. “Since day one, Shanghai Disney Resort has been committed to fostering an accessible environment for all of our guests and Cast Members, and we hope that this week’s unique celebration will further raise awareness of the importance of inclusivity in all aspects of our lives.”
On this special day, Shanghai Disney Resort leaders, along with government officials, leaders from the Shanghai Disabled Persons’ Federation, Shanghai Deaf Persons’ Association, Shanghai Disabled Persons’ Welfare Foundation and invited guests, were in attendance to celebrate the resort’s Sign Language Week and to experience the launch of the Mickey’s Storybook Express Sign Language service. This iconic parade now features a dedicated viewing area in Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land, where sign language specialists interpret the fun phrases and lyrics sung by beloved Disney characters as they pass by on their floats. Guests can book and enquire about this new service through the Shanghai Disney Resort Official Website, the resort’s Reservation Center and Guest Services locations across the resort.
Since opening, Sign Language interpretation services have been available in multiple shows and performances across the resort, including Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration at Evergreen Playhouse and Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular at El Teatro Fandango.
During Shanghai Disney Resort’s Sign Language Week, from September 21-27, guests have a variety of opportunities to learn Chinese Sign Language with their friends, family and Disney Cast Members, with the launch of the Learn Sign Language with Us stall in Disneytown. From September 25–27, sign language learning will also be integrated into the Disneytown Harvest Festival Market interactive games, adding to the season’s celebrations.
Shanghai Disney Resort’s Cast Members are continually encouraged to learn sign language through the new Sign Language Corner program and sign language classes provided by the resort, where they are taught basic skills for easy communication with their peers and guests with hearing and speaking disabilities. Cast Members who use Chinese Sign Language as their primary means of communication wear name tags with sign language pins to make them more easily identifiable by guests and other Cast Members. They are also equipped with handwriting pads to support conversations with guests and their fellow Cast Members.
Shanghai Disney Resort’s MagicALL program supports guests and Cast Members with disabilities, and ensures that everyone can enjoy all products and services within the resort. The program has introduced a number of initiatives over the years to help create an inclusive environment for Cast Members and guests. From the outset of the resort’s design, accessible facilities have been incorporated into the resort based on Disney’s global experience and inspired by industry best-practices, local laws and regulations and international standards.

“Happy Spring Festival!” Also referred to as Lunar New Year, the festival starts with the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar. Spring Festival is a special holiday which turns the page of the past lunar year and starts anew, with hope and new beginnings signaling a slate of celebrations.
To help kick off the festivities, our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering Shanghai have calligraphed a special message to all of you. Check it out.
The message reads: “Fortune Ox Brings Greetings for the New Year. Happy New Year!” This year falls in the second position of the Chinese Zodiac, making it the year of the Ox. You’ll notice that Clarabelle Cow treated us to a special appearance just for the occasion, wearing her new Lunar New Year costume debuted at Shanghai Disney Resort. Ever the gregarious gal, she’ll be popping up during the festival period to greet guests. She’s even making a major debut on TikTok – be sure to check it out!

Shanghai Disney Resort Welcomes the Year of the Cow with Traditional Spring Festival Ceremonies
This morning, Shanghai Disney Resort celebrated the first day of the Year of the Cow with a special traditional Chinese eye-dotting ceremony in front of Storytellers Statue to bring fortune and prosperity to guests during Spring Festival. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and their long-time friend Clarabelle Cow joined guests as Joe Schott, President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, dotted the eyes of two slumbering lions, awakening them to bring vitality and spread good luck to resort guests and Cast Members for the year ahead.
As another exciting surprise, Mickey and Minnie appeared dressed in their new costumes designed by famous Chinese designer, Guo Pei, for the first time at Shanghai Disneyland. The uniquely designed red and gold Spring Festival costumes are abundant with traditional Chinese elements, expressing goodwill and hope for the Year of the Cow.
Guests should be sure not to miss the highlight of Shanghai Disney Resort’s Spring Festival this year, “Our Families”, a unique Spring Festival celebration, welcoming the New Year with spectacular projections and fireworks only available during the Spring Festival holiday. From February 11 through 26, this limited-time show features a special surprise; a firework in the shape of the Chinese character for “Cow” lights up the night sky above the castle, sending best wishes to guests for the Year of the Cow.
With Spring Festival being one of the most important yearly celebrations in China, Shanghai Disney Resort has celebrated the traditional holiday every year since opening in 2016 with themed in-park décor, limited-time shows and entertainment, holiday merchandise and special seasonal menus. This year, the Spring Festival celebrations will continue through Lantern Festival on February 26.
As Shanghai Disney Resort edges closer to its Fifth Anniversary during the Year of the Cow, the resort is looking forward to building excitement and igniting guests’ and fans’ imaginations as the countdown begins to the anniversary of its historic Grand Opening in June 2016.
Mickey Avenue was filled with music once again with the Spring Festival Drum Ceremony. Mickey and Minnie led a traditional drum ceremony to drive away bad luck and bring good fortune to guests during the new year through drumbeats and festive music.
Mickey and Minnie, Clarabelle Cow and more, dressed in their Spring Festival outfits, were joined by dancers in vintage Shanghai-style clothing to bring guests back to the time of old Shanghai jazz and swing.
Clarabelle Cow joined Mickey and Minnie, and many of their friends to greet and charm guests on Mickey Avenue throughout Spring Festival.
In the Spring Festival Wishing Garden, transformed from the Garden of the Twelve Friends during Spring Festival, guests can write their New Year’s wishes on special Wishing Cards to send blessings to their nearest and dearest.
Guests will find new Spring Festival-themed merchandise to add a touch of Disney Spring Festival-style to their holiday shopping, including the limited-release Mickey and Minnie plush set in Guo Pei designed outfits.

On sait pourquoi l'Europe en est privée ? (j'ai vu sur plusieurs comptes européens Disney+ des gens demander où il était) Même question pour Disney Illuminations, pourtant diffusé sur Facebook il y a 1 an sans que ça pose de problème.

Moi qui devait aller à Shanghai quand j'organisais tout cela en 2019, ça fait plus d'un an que ce pays me répugne de façon singulière au niveau de sa transparence et de ses pratiques. Et bien leur test de psychopathe, ils se le foutent au le cul si ça leur chante mais jamais dans le mien ...
Niveau transparence, ce n'est pas nouveau. Si je prends les USA, je n'y apprécie pas toutes les méthodes et choix politiques non plus. Mais ce n'est pas cela qui va m'empêcher de me rendre ni en Chine ni au USA. J'ai été à Shanghai en 2019 et ce fut une très belle expérience à la fois culturelle et de découverte de Disney Shanghai.
Mais cette nouvelle pratique est effectivement dégradante et rédhibitoire.
Après, il y a une alternative d'après d'autres articles : Leur fournir un échantillon de selles (faire caca dans un pot). C'est un peu moins gênant de le faire seule dans une cabine de toilettes et de leur donner le pot du coup.

Ces tests sont pratiqués depuis plusieurs semaines mais jusqu'à il y a peu, les étrangers pouvaient le décliner et demander à passer un test plus conventionnel seulement ils s'avère que les frottis anaux sont beaucoup plus précis (des patients positifs peuvent présenter un résultat négatif sur bases d'échantillons buccaux et nasaux alors que dans le même temps un prélèvement anal détectera le virus).
Cela risque en effet d'en démotiver plus d'un si cela se prolonge lorsque les voyages seront à nouveau raisonnablement possibles...
Spéculations sur l'arrivée au second semestre à Tokyo DisneySea, Hong Kong Disneyland et Shanghai Disneyland de LinaBell, nouveau personnage féminin de l'univers de Duffy, the Disney Bear.
Le nom commercial LinaBell (et LinaBell A Disney Friend of Duffy) a été enregistré le mois dernier par Disney Enterprises Inc. à la fois au Japon, à Hong Kong et en Chine Continentale. Les demandes d'enregistrements sont en attente d'approbation par les différentes autorités compétentes.
