Hong Kong Disneyland Resort lit up the night sky this evening with the memorable premiere of its highly-anticipated “Momentous” – The Most Magical Show on Earth. Through music and multi-sensory elements that envelop the Castle of Magical Dreams, guests at the premiere were taken on the most magical journey with beloved Disney and Pixar characters. The new nighttime spectacular is filled with inspiring and sentimental moments that bring the Castle of Magical Dreams to life once again, delighting guests and brightening their families’ night when it officially launches this Saturday, June 18*.



At tonight’s ceremony, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were joined onstage by officiating guests Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.



“Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's brand-new nighttime spectacular will take the magic to a whole new level and bring the Castle of Magical Dreams to life. Our talented local and international cast members began working on this project back when our new castle didn’t even exist five years ago! Add in the obstacles to travel during the pandemic, and it’s been a stellar effort from the team overcoming different challenges. We’re proud to unveil this much-anticipated new spectacular for the very first time and we’re sure that our guests will be captivated, wanting to come again and again to watch the most magical show on earth.” said Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

“Despite the daunting challenges of COVID, Hong Kong Disneyland just keeps thinking bolder. And what can be bigger, more awe-inspiring, than ‘Momentous,’ a multimedia storytelling spectacular after five years in the dreaming and creating. After all, the power of Disney magic had attracted more than 88 million guests to Hong Kong Disneyland since its opening in 2005, a number sure to soar in the momentous months, and years, to come.” said Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government.



Set sail on the journey of lifetime

To take guests on this momentous journey, the new show celebrates each stage of life through a series of six chapters, with projection images of approximately 150 characters from almost 40 Disney and Pixar stories. The show also illuminates the resort’s night sky with a stunning combination of multimedia elements, some of which are being used for the first time ever at Hong Kong Disneyland. The technology includes large-scale projection mapping, water projections, theatrical lighting, lasers, choreographed water fountains, flames, pyrotechnics, and firework effects.



Through “Momentous,” guests embark on the journey of a lifetime, from tender new beginnings and the playful joy of childhood to growing up, finding ourselves, falling in love, overcoming obstacles and reminiscing those who inspire us. From November 19, 2021 to January 2, 2022, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will be filled with magical white snow day and night, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a memorable Disney Christmas experience. On December 3 and 4, 2021, the resort will present the first-ever live orchestra performance “A Magical Nighttime Symphony” by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (The HK Phil) in front of the majestic Castle of Magical Dreams. The HK Phil will be joined on stage by Mickey Mouse and other beloved Disney Friends as they perform classic Disney and Christmas songs for a unique magical symphony experience.

As part of the excitement, the resort also announced today the launch of the “Hong Kong Disneyland Presents: A Magical Nighttime Symphony” Giveaways (“Lucky Draw”*). Hong Kong residents will have the chance to win a park ticket and be one of the few to enjoy this magical Christmas event.

A Magical Nighttime Symphony with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra

As the sun sets and dusk arrives, the Castle of Magical Dreams will shine with dazzling lights together with festive Christmas adornments at the park. Conductor Chiu Tsang Hei will take the stage with musicians from the HK Phil. A flick of the baton, and the HK Phil will soar to life for the 45-minute symphony in true festive spirit.

Expect Sorcerer Mickey in his special costume, followed by two Disney royals, Queen Anna and Queen Elsa joining the stage. Mickey’s best friends, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy, will also appear in their brand-new holiday costumes to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Popular Disney songs will include "A Whole New World," and "Frozen Heart,” alongside Christmas classics like "Joy to the World" and "Jingle Bells," for a magical Christmas live musical performance featuring the guest pianist Ceejay Javier, music director, entertainment & costuming, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. As the enchanting music rings through the night sky, the castle’s magnificent water fountains will dance in step to the music. All the while, snowflakes will gently cascade to the ground, perfecting the festive spirit of the season in a night of beautiful harmony.
