McFarland [Disney - 2015]

Dans la série "les films Disney qu'on ne verra jamais en salles en France, parce qu'ils sont consacrés au sport" (souvenez-vous d'Invincible, Secretariat, Un Parcours de Légende et Miracle, uniquement proposés en vidéo à cause des bides du Plus Beau des Combats et de Rêve de Champion dans notre pays), voici le nouveau projet annoncé par The Hollywood Reporter:

The drama tells the true story of a coach living in the 1980s in a predominantly Latino town outside of Bakersfield, Calif.
Disney is getting ready to run circles around the competition.
The studio is developing the track team drama McFarland, and is in negotiations with Niki Caro to direct the project, which hails from Mayhem Pictures. Mayhem's Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray are well-known in the inspirational sports genre, having produced movies such as Miracle, Invincible and Secretariat.
McFarland also falls in that true-story fold, telling the tale of a coach living in 1980s predominantly Latino McFarland, Calif., a small town outside of Bakersfield. The coach created a high school track team that overcame many social and physical hurdles to become champions.
The project was set up at the studio in 2004.
Disney hopes to make the movie in the $20 million range, in the same arena as Prom, build a cast around a recognizable name and shoot next year.

Kevin Costner in Talks to Star in Disney's Sports Drama 'McFarland'

Niki Caro is directing the true-life story, which follows a 1980s track-and-field coach living in the titular California town.

Disney se montre décidément bien disposé envers Kevin Costner qui n'a pourtant jamais fait d'étincelles au box office à chaque fois qu'il a travaillé avec la firmede près (Open Range : 58 Millions / The Guardian-Coast Guards : 55 Millions / Swing Vote: 16 Millions - tous ces chiffres correspondant au B.O. Américain, car Disney n'a distribué ces films-là qu'en Amérique, à l'exception de Coast Guards, dans certains pays d'Europe) ou de loin (Dragonfly et 13 days distribués dans certains pays européens ont aussi eu des trajectoires assez limitées en termes de box office). Et c'est tant mieux, puisque cela prouve que Disney réfléchit à l'acteur le plus crédible pour le rôle, et non le plus bankable.

Histoire de rappeler qu'on ne verra pas ce film sortir en France malgré le fait qu'il a l'air bien sympathique.
Il sort le 20 février aux USA.
