This hotel will be Hyatt’s first beach resort in Japan. It is located in Okinawa’s most sought-after resort destination, Onnason, on the west coast, approximately 60 minutes from Naha Airport by car. The plan includes the construction of a large hotel with around 340 rooms in total covering all of Seragaki Island and on the side of Okinawa’s main island, surrounded by abundant nature. The hotel will have a variety of restaurants/bars, spas, swimming pools, fitness centers, banquet rooms, chapel and a full range of secondary facilities.

Together with the construction of the hotel, the project for the development of the sea area is underway in cooperation with Onnason, including the redevelopment of village roads that will connect to Seragaki Island and the beaches. New added value in the area will be created through town development in cooperation with the local community. In addition to domestic tourists, whose numbers are rising steadily, inbound guests who are expected to increase, will be taken into consideration in the development of the facilities.

Good Luck Corporation Named Partner for Destination Weddings

In a joint communiqué released today the three business operators of Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa, a luxury beach resort now under construction in Onnason in Okinawa Prefecture, announced that plans are on track for the hotel to open its doors in August 2018, with rooms reservations scheduled to commence half a year earlier in February. The three companies are Tokyu Land Corporation (TSE 3289; president Yuji Okuma), NTT Urban Development Corporation (TSE 8933; president and CEO Hiroshi Nakagawa), and Milial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Oriental Land Co., Ltd.; TSE 4661; president Yumiko Takano).

Seragaki Hotel Management K.K. (president Tomoyuki Hayakawa), a joint venture of the three business operators, will oversee the hotel management while Hyatt International Asia Pacific Ltd., an associated company of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, will operate the hotel, the announcement stated. Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa is the first Hyatt beach resort to open in Japan.

Good Luck Corporation, a wedding specialist founded in 2003 with proven experience planning and executing upscale destination weddings in Hawaii, Guam, Bali, and Taiwan in addition to Okinawa, has been designated the official partner for the hotel’s bridal offerings. With its prime location facing the East China Sea just one hour north of Naha Airport, Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa is poised to become an exciting contender in the Asia-Pacific market for destination weddings and honeymoons. The beach resort is midway between the northern and southernmost points of Okinawa Island, making travel to points of interest in either direction easy.

Figures released by the prefectural government show that the number of domestic and international arrivals in Okinawa reached an all-time high in fiscal year 2016 of 8,769,200, a 10.5 percent increase over the previous year. Figures for the first half of the current fiscal year already show a 9.3 percent increase over the same period in fiscal year 2016. With construction of an additional runway at Naha Airport now underway and slated to be in operation in late March 2020, this upward trend is projected to continue.

The opening team is committed to making Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa a one-of-a-kind resort that drives travelers’ decisions of where to vacation. The joint communiqué stated, “We are united in our desire to position Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa as a premier luxury destination in the Asia-Pacific region. We aim to rewrite the definition of what a destination hotel can be.”

The First Hyatt Beach Resort in Japan Construction of the planned 340-room property as well as an access road linking Seragaki Island with Route 58 on the main island is now underway. Super Potato alumnus Yukio Hashimoto, whose work to date includes not only luxury hotels but also spas, boutiques, private residences, and eating and drinking venues in Japan and abroad, is in charge of the hotel’s interior design. His mandate for the first Hyatt beach resort in Japan is to create uplifting, inspired spaces and ambiences that invite full relaxation. The estimated gross floor area of the facilities is 38,200 square meters.

A New Contender for Destination Weddings in the Asia-Pacific Region Seragaki Hotel Management K.K. has entered into an agreement with Good Luck Corporation, who will oversee the resort’s wedding-related products and services as well as the operation of the on-site chapel and wedding salon facilities. Prospective brides and grooms should note that reservations for Seragaki Island Chapel will commence December 22 for weddings scheduled September 1, 2018 or later.

Hiroko Noguchi Appointed as General Manager Hyatt has appointed Hiroko Noguchi as general manager of the resort. Her eleven-year post as the founding general manager of Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa, the property that marked Hyatt’s initial foray into Japan’s resort market, combined with her prior experience as manager of Sales and Marketing at Park Hyatt Tokyo, the first Park Hyatt to open in Asia, make her eminently qualified to take the helm of Hyatt’s first beach resort in Japan.
