Buena Vista Street

La présentation de Buena Vista Street à l'expo D23! Attention, beaucoup de photos!!

The trees were selected in order to provide comfort but to also enclose the theming. The palm trees that were planted before pulled the eye up and out. The new landscaping is designed to keep you involved in your surroundings.


The new hub is slightly off center in order to make looking back at Disneyland's main gates and train station non visible.

They have taken bits and pieces of a variety of historic architecture. They had a hard time fitting the existing buildings with facades that are true to disney scale.


They're now showing elevation studies of both the left and right hand sides of the street.


All of the stores on buena vista street will be fully themed inside. They will also have visual
connections from the exterior to the interior. This will include window displays.

They kept mentioning that during development there was a color expert or queen, and a tile queen. Lisa then said , there are a lot of queens in imagineering.". After Lisa caught herself the room erupted in laughter.



The Clarabells ice cream locations exterior color palette was umpired by a pack of necco wafers.

They wanted to be careful not to include actual Disney character in the exterior ornamentation since they were mostly uninvented in 1920



They are importing massive, mature oak trees.


The pump house for the fountain, that is adjacent to the carthay, will also serve as a trolley stop.

The carthay circle theater will serve as a restaurant. It will have balconies that will be perfect to watch parades from







The Walt and Mickey statue will be located in the small park that will be built in front of the current greetings from California building.


They just showed maquettes of the new walt and Mickey statue.

Hommage à la Candy Mountain, restau. dans le Carthay Circle Theater, statue bourrée de sens de Walt qui avait la vingtaine, boutique sur Elias, etc ! Vivement !!

Une question que je me pose...quel va etre le parcours du tram que l'on voit passer en pleine rue car vu qu'il n'y a qu'une voix, ca signifique qu'il va circuler dans tout le parc et qu'il va donc falloir adapter TOUT le parc au trajet....

Bin non. Ce sera juste une ligne à sens unique sur une partie de son circuit (comme le trollay de Main Street).

J'avoue que je ne l'ai jamais vu ce fameux trollay sur Main Street..mais si ma memoire ne me fait pas defaut, il me semble que sur Main Street, le parcours se finit par une boucle des deux cotés du trajet...alors que sur la video presentée....on voit bien que le trajet ne fera pas la moindre boucle mais part plutot dans des directions lointaines....

Il va y avoir une nouvelle boutique de bonbons, dans laquelle on pourra trouver une maquette (visiblement avec des chariots motorisés?) de Big Rock Candy Mountain

J'aime le concept de ce CCC (Carthay Circle Club).
Reste à voir si les abonnements seront raisonnables et non démesurés, enfin pour débuter ça m' étonnerai que les abonnements soient innacessibles au public.

Sinon, ce serait une erreur désagréable.
Certainement très rentable mais que je percevrais très mal au niveau de la philosophie d l'entreprise.

Jason Surrell parle de Big Rock Candy Mountain dans son livre The Disney Mountains. Cela devait, à l'origine, être une attraction pour Disneyland mais elle n'a jamais été construite et Big Rock Candy Mountain se retrouvera finalement, sous forme d'une maquette animée (les trolleys), dans la future boutique Trolley Treats du Disney California Adventure park.

Selon l'article cité , on parle d'un upgrade du Premium Pass qui est déjà à $ 700 ...

BUENA VISTA STREET

Inside the park, work continues on Sunshine Plaza's west-side buildings, stripping them down before they begin receiving their new Buena Vista Street look.


The facade for the former Engine Ears Toys is completely gone now.


Slowly removing the train station facade.





PACIFIC WHARF
Nearby the Cars Land construction at Pacific Wharf, the grain silos that were next to the Mission Tortilla Factory have been removed.


Are they getting ready to start work on re-theming work for the rumored Ghirardelli Chocolate factory and soda fountain?

Alors que les gros travaux commencent aujourd'hui pour Buena Vista Street, un dernier regard à ce qui reste de l'ancienne entrée de DCA: bye, bye...

The old locker and restroom area. It's sad to say, but this minor theming was arguably some of Sunshine Plaza's more charming detailing when it opened in 2001.




It's all part of Yesterland, now


Across the walkway, the Greetings from California store's last day was Sunday, August 28. Without the Sunshine Plaza murals covering it up, this big box of a store has really stuck out.

The new backstage route really does look more presentable than Sunshine Plaza did in its last couple weeks of operation.




Guest relations has set up shop in a trailer located along the backstage route


With Greetings! From California closed, merchandise ops has set up carts along the entrance corridor selling souvenirs. Seems a little tacky, considering the inconvenience this detour is causing for guests.




New attraction posters and concept art line the Pan-Pacific-themed walls


New landscaping along the backstage path. A nice touch.

The information kiosk has moved from Sunshine Plaza to a former smoking area next to the Condor Flats restrooms.


You exit the park the same way you came in. A digital sign points the way, but will change at night when large post-World of Color crowds will simply exit the park through the utility gates straight ahead.






For now, you still pass in front of Greetings from California, but this will soon change. The retail location is now permanently closed.
