A great big beautiful Tomorrow

And then, of course, there's Tomorrowland. After limping along for almost a decade as a shell of its former self, it finally has a new lease on life with Buzz Lightyear, the just as beloved new version of Space Mountain, and the immensely popular Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage all up and running now. A big budget Microsoft takeover of Innoventions later this year will help take some of the sting out of the pathetic use of the Carousel Theater, and the first train of the hip new monorail fleet will arrive on property about the same time.

[Disneyland Park] Tomorrowland Al082807g
But Tony Baxter isn't satisfied with Tomorrowland just yet. He sees Innoventions as a dying entity, and something that never should have been shoehorned into that revolving building in the first place. Don't bet on that Microsoft sponsorship to be renewed once the short contractual obligations expire in 2010. The saga of remaking Tomorrowland has been dragging on for years now, and there are several separate projects patiently waiting for their number to be called, not the least of which is the Star Tours 2.0 remake gaining steam. 2010 also spells the end of the Chevron sponsorship of Autopia, and the electric version in Hong Kong sponsored by Honda is looking very promising. No wonder TDA's Participant Relations department trips all over themselves when the Honda execs come to visit.

[Disneyland Park] Tomorrowland Al082807p
A new PeopleMover on the existing track, as well as a big new futuristic E Ticket that would push the boundary of Tomorrowland out all the way to the edge of Harbor Blvd., with the Disneyland Railroad running right through the middle of it, is what Tony wants to see under construction before the end of this decade. That's his biggest goal right now, to get that off the ground and to avoid the short sighted budget mistakes Paul Pressler imposed on his last Tomorrowland remake in 1998. John Lasseter is behind Tony 100%, as John also has made some very frank statements regarding the unacceptable condition Disneyland's Tomorrowland is in.

An entire land remake for Tokyo's Tomorrowland also plays into the timing on this one, as some of the attraction concepts would be used in both Anaheim and Tokyo. Florida's Tomorrowland is not on anyone's radar, as the only real plans there are for a more modest version of Disneyland's recent Space Mountain refurbishment.

It's great for Disney Geeks/Fans that Tony Baxter is in charge of Disneyland. A lot of people still wax longingly about Baxter's aborted "Tomorrowland 2055" project. While we won't be getting that exact project for Tomorrowland, we will be getting a variation and successor to it. The project that Baxter plans to makeover TL with will be layered in the detail we have become accustomed to from Tony Baxter. The project will also take a long time to complete. If it all gets approved then it will be done over phases. Broken into two or even three phases over a period of four years...

The first phase will be scheduled to be done by the time Disneyland's 55th anniversary comes around. Yes, only part of the proposal will be completed when the park celebrates that special milestone. The next phase will come the following year with final phase reaching completion around late 2012/early 2013.

The goal is still to have the Star Tours attraction revamped and up and running by the end of the first phase. The area around ST part will be rethemed to represent a more stylized view of what Baxter wants to turn Tomorrowland into. The small bit of art that I've seen reflects a more "retro" feel in what Tomorrowland will become at the end of the Makeover. Many of the elements of the original 98' makeover will be brushed away if the Suits approve his plans. There are also plans to put in a plussed "D-Ticket" where HISTA is by the end of the second phase and even talks about a makeover of Autotopia to reflect the changes in theming in the area. By the end of this part expect to see a return of the People Mover... at least a variation of it. But it appears that the Incredibles "Pod-Movers" have fallen out of favor in return for something else to match the new design. Plans are still in the early stages and the presentation won't be given to Burbank and the Suits until later this year for approval. The final third phase won't be completed until after DCA's Car's Land more than likely. It will be the final makeover or total removal of the Carousel of Progress. The Imagineers are planning a new elaborate "E-Ticket" for where this large piece of real estate occupies, but the construction of it will have to wait until the contract with the current sponsors of the place runs out. That'll be a few years from now, but when it's all said and done TL will have at least one new "E-Ticket" and at least one, more likely two "D-Tickets" in addition to the renovations that are supposed to take place on Star Tours.

Disney Imagineers said to be working on a 'Tron Legacy' ride
by Leigh Caldwell (RSS feed) on Nov 8th 2010 at 12:00PM[Disneyland Park] Tomorrowland Tronlegacy1108lc

The next Disney movie to get a ride at Disneyland may be more futuristic than fairytale. The blog Blue Sky Disney is reporting that Disney Imagineers have been given the green light to develop a ride treatment for the upcoming movie "Tron Legacy."

Disney Parks have gone a little Tron crazy this fall, with a Tron-wrapped monorail at Walt Disney World and a nighttime elecTRONica party at Disney's California Adventure.

Last week, Disney added a new "Tron Legacy" scene to the World of Color show at Disney's California Adventure, the first addition to the show since it premiered earlier this year.

Slashfilm is giving further credibility to the rumors, reporting that Disney Imagineers - the folks that design Disney's rides and attractions - visited the Tron movie set in Toronto to study the sets, props and concept art being used on the film.

So, while Walt Disney World adds princess castles and The Little Mermaid ride during its Fantasyland expansion, Disneyland may be looking to Tomorrowland for the next big changes at the California theme park.

MessageSujet: [Disneyland Park] Bientôt une attraction sur Iron Man ? (2014-2015) [Disneyland Park] Tomorrowland Horlog11Mer 20 Avr 2011 - 22:02

(Cf Island of adventure)
