As the sun dips into the ocean to end the day, a conch shell is blown in the distance and you can hear the Hawaiian oli chant begin. This is the tradition of welcoming our guests to KA WA‘A, a Lu‘au at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa … which guests will soon be able to experience once again! I’m thrilled to announce that reservations are now available for KA WA‘A Lu‘au which will reopen on March 27.

Set under the stars on the beautiful Hālāwai Lawn, KA WA‘A Lu‘au immerses guests in the live music, traditional dance and ancient stories of Hawai‘i through Disney’s signature entertainment. Prior to the show, guests are encouraged to participate in family activities that are now enjoyed from the comfort of their own table. These activities include flower arranging and poi pounding, a process in which Taro root is ground to create poi – a food that is a staple of the traditional Hawaiian diet.
My mouth is watering just thinking about all the amazing flavors families enjoy during this special dinner experience! The lu‘au features a three-course plated meal that includes island favorites such as ahi poke and lomilomi salmon salad, imu-style braised pork, island fish, teriyaki chicken, local seasonal vegetables and a dessert trio. To accompany the meal, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are included in the event price.
After dinner, guests are treated to an enchanting journey through Hawaiian history and discover its deep cultural roots in canoe (wa‘a) exploration, which brought the first explorers to the shores of Ko Olina. Throughout the evening, lively music and traditional Hawaiian dance vividly bring the show’s story to life.
The lu‘au is offered three nights per week at 5 p.m., weather permitting. Reservations can be made online, or by calling (844) 284-7644. Reserve early as seating is limited to maintain physical distance between parties.

Dine with Disney Friends at Aulani Resort’s Character Breakfast Returning to Makahiki Restaurant on May 7
Aloha Kakahiaka means good morning to you! This is not just a Hawaiian language lesson, but also a line sung by Aunty during the character breakfast at Makahiki Restaurant, which I’m happy to announce will return on May 7 to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa.

At the character breakfast, Mickey Mouse and his friends will join Aunty or Uncle for fun songs and entertainment while guests enjoy a delightful three-course breakfast. Upon arrival at Makahiki, and throughout the breakfast experience, guests will have an opportunity to take photos with Disney friends to mark the occasion!
A bountiful breakfast will be available seven days a week at Makahiki Restaurant, with characters appearing on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. During the month of May, character dining will be exclusive to resort guests.
And let’s not forget about all the delicious food you’ll enjoy during the breakfast! There, you will choose from entrees including fluffy macadamia nut pancakes with a Tahitian vanilla sauce or Hawaiian-style Loco Moco with hamburger steak, all accompanied by pastries and seasonal fresh fruit. Keiki – or kids – may choose the Mickey and Minnie waffle, which includes a Belgian mickey waffle and red velvet Minnie waffle. Is your mouth watering yet ?

Aulani Resort’s own Aunty and Uncle hosted the moment with Disney friends by their sides, including the music loving ‘Olu Mel. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse also revealed their brand new outfits – reserved just for their visits to Aulani Resort.

Aulani Resort Marks 10th Anniversary with Original Mele
It’s been 10 years since Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai‘i welcomed its first guests – a milestone that words alone cannot express.
Music, on the other hand, has a special way of capturing an emotion. It has always played a key role in our storytelling at Aulani Resort, from the deep reverence of Keali‘i Reichel’s Music of the Maka‘ala, welcoming guests into the grand lobby, to Mele from Aunty’s Beach House, a collection of favorite Disney songs produced by Kenneth Makuakane and recorded in ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i, Hawaiian language, for all to enjoy throughout the resort.
To carry on that tradition of storytelling through music, ‘Aulani, Lei Hiwahiwa is a new mele, or song, created to honor the resort’s 10th anniversary. Written, performed and recorded by two of Aulani’s own cast members Angela Morales and Eric Lee, it’s an ode to the story of this special place – from its formation and it’s evolution and growth, to what it has become today and the ‘ohana who has given it life.
The talent found at Aulani Resort is remarkable. Angela and Eric, who embody the roles of Aulani’s Aunty and Uncle, are also award-winning music artists, and recipients of several Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards, the premier awards for Hawai‘i’s recording industry. When we all got together to talk about honoring Aulani Resort through music, it just felt right that they create and share this song for us.
We hope you’ll enjoy this mele woven especially for the ‘ohana Aulani, including all those who have been touched by this one-of-a-kind place.

Aloha to the Next Disney Ambassador of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa
From performer, to resort leader and now Disney Ambassador, Kanoa Kawai will serve as the next Disney Ambassador of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. The search for the next Disney Ambassador at Aulani Resort started earlier this summer as current Ambassador Alyssa-Lende Kane led cast members through information sessions, preparing them for the interview process ahead. Cast members from nearly every line of business applied, resulting in an incredible pool of applicants and a difficult decision as to who will ultimately serve the cast once Alyssa’s term comes to a close at the end of this year. After three rounds of interviews and activities, Kanoa Kawai was selected to wear the Ambassador pin to serve the cast of Aulani Resort in 2022 and beyond.
Kanoa joined the resort in 2014 as an entertainment performer before moving into a management role with Entertainment in 2019 and now with Food and Beverage. “Being a Disney cast member has changed my life and the direction of my professional career,” Kanoa shared, “I have the honor of being part of a company that makes dreams come true.” Kanoa hopes his time as Ambassador will give him the opportunity to “serve, lead and influence cast members” and his community. Always having a passion for mentorship, Kanoa hopes to be a positive impact on his cast around him.
While Alyssa-Lende’s ambassadorship may be coming to a close, a new journey is just starting, recently accepting a manager role at the front desk, where she will continue to inspire and lead her fellow cast members. After Kanoa’s selection, she continued the Aulani Resort tradition of presenting a makana, or gift, to the newly selected Ambassador. Alyssa-Lende presented, an ‘umeke bowl which intentionally has no lid for the stories to flow in and out of this beautiful vessel.
We can’t wait to see the wonderful stories Kanoa and Alyssa-Lende will write as they move into their new adventures. Hoʻomaikaʻi, congratulations!

Meet the 2024-25 Aulani Disney Ambassador, Dylan Rogers
Ho’omaika’i to Dylan Rogers, who has been selected as the new Disney Ambassador at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa!
Dylan has been with Aulani Resort for six years, starting as a front desk agent and serving as a groups assistant, front desk lead, and now guest service manager. She is also a Traditions facilitator for 2022-2023 and a Disney Aspire graduate, receiving her Master of Science in Management.
“What an honor,” Dylan told cast members shortly after being announced at an event marking Aulani Resort’s 12th anniversary. “I’m truly humbled to be your Aulani Ambassador. It’s not something that I take lightly, it’s a kuleana, a responsibility that I feel, and I will work my hardest every single day to be worthy of this for all of you.”
Dylan says her grandmother has been an invaluable source of strength in her life, encouraging her love of Disney and helping her bring many creative crafting and artistic projects to fruition. Dylan said she will use her love of Disney and creativity to promote Aulani’s cast and stories to the world.
“I know with Kanoa [Kawai, Aulani’s current Disney Ambassador] and our former Ambassadors, Janelle Sanqui, Manakō Tanaka and Alyssa-Lende Kane, there’s such a strong foundation that’s already been built here. I can’t wait to build further on that, and elevate Aulani Resort and all of you,” Dylan said.
After an arduous interview process, Dylan was chosen from among a group of outstanding cast members including Shawny Morey from Sales & Services, Steve Paul from Front Desk, and Serena Valdez Duenas from Entertainment.
Aulani Ambassadors represent the resort and cast members through internal recognition events, community and Disney VoluntEAR events, media interviews, social media and guest interactions. Kanoa will continue to serve out his term through the end of the calendar year and will assist in training Dylan until her term officially begins on Jan. 1, 2024.
