Excellente nouvelle en effet !
Bien que ce soit dommage que Disney n'utilise pas Fincher pour quelque chose de plus "inédit".

Ce film pourrait être le début d'une véritable coopération entre Fincher et le studio, un peu comme Alice qui a amorcé un retour de Burton chez Disney (pour déboucher sur Frankenweenie, et peut-être Maléfice et Monsterpocalypse)...

Mais en un sens, en dehors de ce 20 000 lieues sous les mers, je ne sais pas si l'univers de Fincher va dans le sens de la nouvelle politique éditoriale de Disney.

Il y a dix ans, Fincher aurait parfaitement trouvé sa place chez Touchstone, qui faisait appel à des réalisateurs chevronnés et intransigeants, comme De Palma, Scorcese, Coppola, Shyamalan, Wes Anderson... Mais aujourd'hui, chez Disney et Touchstone, la tendance est davantage à Pretty Woman qu'à Sixième Sens, La famille Tenenbaum ou Snake Eyes.

je suis mitigé:
- 20k sous les mers me parait difficilement "remakable" tant le film est mythique surtout par la prestation de James Mason. mais techniquement, le nouveau film pourrait etre magnifique avec quelqu'un comme Fincher à la barre
- il ont intéret à conserver le design du sous-marin comme celui de 1954 !!!!!!!!!
- la précédente tentative de McG avait été annulée il me semble car trop cher et trop segmentant, donc si on parle de Star Wars sous les mers, cela me parait contradictoire.

Au moins, c'est dans la ligne directrice précisée par Bob Iger à l'annonce des résultats de la company: une grosse production familiale "franchisable"... J'espère que le projet se concrétisera.

Au contraire, je le trouve "remakable" dans le sens où le cinéma limitait les possibilités à l'époque... Bien sûr le film est mythique, ça ne remet pas ce fait en cause!

En tout cas je suis super heureuse de cette nouvelle, le projet m'enthousiasmait beaucoup à la base, je suis contente de le voir relancé!

Il faut seulement qu'ils ne tardent pas car Ridley et Tony Scott prévoient eux aussi une adaptation du roman de J. Verne, pour la Fox (avec le scénariste du Choc des Titans)

Le Los Angeles Times confirme que David Fincher est officiellement attaché au projet sur la chaise du réalisateur. Le cinéaste de The Social Network travaille actuellement sur le remake U.S de Millénium avec Daniel Craig. Le nouveau scénario est signé Scott Z.Burns.

Le film sera en 3D, selon DVDRama, qui cite même le réalisateur à propos de ce nouveau procédé technique : « Je pense que c'est cool... quand c'est bien fait ! »

20.000 lieues sous les mers sera son premier film en relief.

David Fincher est reconnu pour être un cinéaste expérimentateur. Certains plans de ses films, d’ Alien 3 à Fight Club ou Panic Room font office de cas d’école d’un point de vue technique. Jamais en retard d’une innovation, le réalisateur va pourtant prendre un train déjà en marche : Fincher a annoncé dans une interview au site Collider que 20.000 lieues sous les mers marquera ses premiers pas dans la 3D. Et ce plus rapidement que prévu : si The girl with the dragon tattoo est en boîte, il doute fort que The girl who played with fire , le remake du second volet de la saga Millenium soit prêt rapidement : le scénario n’est pas écrit, Daniel Craig va être pris pas mal de temps par le 23e James Bond et surtout Sony ne mettra en chantier cette suite qu’en fonction des résultats du premier épisode. Fincher devrait donc logiquement se lancer dans sa version du classique de Jules Verne

Euh, vous êtes sur qu'on parle du même film là? Parce qu'il est écrit que le producteur est SONY et non DISNEY.

T'as lu trop vite : Sony produit le remake de Millenium et ne mettra en chantier la suite que si le 1er volet a du succes.

Pendant ce temps, Fincher pourra réaliser 20.000 lieux... (pour Disney donc)

j'ai hate d'avoir plus d'infos sur ce films ! Fincher va nous faire un petit chefs d'oeuvre
on verra comment il utilise la 3D sinon , surement judicieusement !

Fincher: I think he would be. If we get to do what we’re planning on doing, it’s pretty interesting.

Fincher: No, not at all. I was alive when a man stepped on the moon. It was awe-inspiring, the notion of that much care that NASA took. I’m sure it was the same thing for the Manhattan Project. Si je ne m'abuse, il n'y a présentement aucun film en production chez Disney portant sur le capitaine Nemo.

Si, David Fincher en a souvent parlé lors d'interviews.

Le tournage devait démarrer en février dernier mais n'a jamais eu lieu, simple retard ou annulation pure et simple ? En tout cas le film ne sortira pas en 2013, c'est sûr et certain !

Selon le journal de référence Variety, le projet de remake de 20.000 lieues sous les mers de David Fincher serait relancé avec Brad Pitt dans le rôle de Ned Land. Le film pourrait recevoir son feu vert d'ici 3 mois.

With David Fincher still awaiting Steve Zaillian's script for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" sequel, the helmer is looking to hoist his adaptation of Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" off the ocean floor at Disney.

Sources tell Variety that the studio has placed a three-month hold on the filmmaker as it decides whether to move forward with the project, which has stayed under the sonar ever since Fincher tapped his "Se7en" scribe Andrew Kevin Walker to rewrite the script back in November 2011. Pic has not yet received a greenlight.

Meanwhile, the conversation has turned to casting, with sources telling Variety that Fincher is courting his frequent collaborator Brad Pitt to star as sailor and master harpooner Ned Land. Kirk Douglas played the character in the 1954 original that was the only science fiction film produced by Walt Disney himself. An older A-List star would likely play iconic literary anti-hero Captain Nemo.

Disney had no comment, while Pitt's rep told Variety that he isn't committed to anything right now and continues to explore possibilities for next year, though the rep didn't deny that "20,000 Leagues" may be among them.

It's true that Pitt has no firm commitments outside of an attachment to James Gray's "The Gray Man," which has been in development for several years. Outside of voice roles in the animated pics "MegaMind" and "Happy Feet 2," Pitt is coming off a string of adult movies including "The Tree of Life" and "Moneyball" as well as violent upcoming pics "Killing Them Softly," "World War Z" and Ridley Scott's "The Counselor."

Pitt previously worked with Fincher on "Se7en," "Fight Club" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Thesp, who recently wrapped a small role in Steve McQueen's "Twelve Years a Slave," is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Back in February, it was reported that Australia was offering Disney and David Fincher's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea tax incentives to shoot down under. The Australian government has now confirmed the film will indeed shoot there. Here's the announcement:

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Arts Minister Tony Burke today announced The Walt Disney Studios film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will join a growing list of blockbuster productions filmed in Australia.

While casting decisions are still to be made and locations are yet to be finalised, the filming of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will give Australian talent the opportunity to work with some of the best screen professionals in the business – both in front of the cameras and behind the scenes.

To attract the film to Australia, the Gillard Government will grant the producers a one-off payment of $21.6 million which will result in substantial new investment in Australia and could create up to 2,000 jobs.

On the back of the launch of Creative Australia, the new national cultural policy, the securing of this film is a huge coup for the Australian film industry and for the near 1,000 local businesses that will be providing goods and services for the film.

Through Creative Australia, the Gillard Government committed a further $20 million in new funding to attract international production to Australia and a commitment to increase the rate of the Location Offset should the Australian dollar remain high.

The announcement comes just after The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman, recently wrapped filming in Sydney. The Wolverine, which created over 1750 jobs and contracted more than 1027 Australian companies, generated $80 million of investment and has reaffirmed Australia’s status as one of the world’s best filming destinations.

It also demonstrates that Gillard Government investment in the arts to drive local and national economic growth works and reflects the strong and ongoing support for the local screen industry by the Gillard Government.
