[Disney California Adventure] Placemaking: Pixar Pier, Buena Vista Street, Hollywood Land, Condor Flats

Le trompe l'oeil était génial dans le thème d'un backlot de cinéma... le nouvel HPB deviendra une "vraie" ville d'où le remplacement d'un trompe l'oeil et faux ciel avec une véritable façade.

Concernant Buena Vista Street, il est toujours prévu de réaliser la rue par moitié et de maintenir l'entrée du parc dans la moitié non-concernée par les travaux. Quand à la sortie, elle devrait se faire par Condor Flats (entre Soarin' et le Grand Californian Hotel) ou par Hollywood Pictures Backlot.
Egalement, les Cast Members à l'entrée des parcs auront de nouveaux costumes.

Urbane renewal...

Once the curtain comes down on ElecTRONica on January 2nd, there likely won’t be an opportunity to stage a similar event next summer due to the massive construction the Buena Vista Street project will create throughout 2011. The main entrance team has been worrying about that project for two years now, so much so that the original 2010 construction timeline was pushed back into 2011 over World of Color crowding concerns, a decision that now seems very wise considering the big hit World of Color has become. But eventually the rather cheap two-dimensional DCA entrance from 2001 will need to be completely removed and replaced, a huge project unprecedented for the entrance of any Disney theme park.

While many scenarios have been tossed around over the years as the construction timeline got pushed back, the plan now is to attempt to split the DCA entrance in half and tackle one side of the street at a time. Entry would still be allowed through the half of the park entrance still open in 2011, while exiting guests would be funneled out temporary exit gates in Condor Flats or the Hollywood sections of the park.

The main entrance Cast Members for both parks will be getting new uniforms in 2011 to replace the rather drab contemporary outfits they’ve worn since 2000. The new costumes have a more formal look, with dark navy trousers and dark yellow and burgundy shirts, with gold and enamel buttons that have a Mickey silhouette engraved on them. The new uniform is supposed to not only look fancier, but also tie into the original concept from Walt’s day that these front-line Cast Members were the park “receptionists” welcoming the arriving visitors onto the Disneyland stage.

By the time the new DCA entrance and those new uniforms debut, Anaheim will also have installed a next-generation version of the biometric finger scanners already used at Walt Disney World’s theme park entrance gates. The hope is that this new ticketing system will not only speed the process of hopping between the two theme parks, especially with DCA’s increasing popularity, but also put a stop to much of the abuse currently associated with some Annual Passholders and partially used multi-day tickets being bought and sold on eBay and Craigslist.

Before Buena Vista Street is finished in spring 2012, the next big debut for DCA is the radically reworked and rethemed section around the new Little Mermaid ride and the adjoining Paradise Gardens area. The Maliboomer is still slated for Yesterland, as we told you earlier this year, but the rest of the area and the new attractions are slated for an opening next May. The exact date of the grand opening party still hasn’t been ironed out, but you can bet they’ll want to tie it into a multi-day media event that also officialy debuts the new Star Tours attraction.

les pavés du tramway sont beaux alors que le sol du land reste assez poussièreux (sur la dernière photo j'entends)

J'avoue que j'ai un sentiment mitigé. Certes, il s'agit d'une shot-tower très peu thématisée indigne de Disney, mais là, on supprime pour ne rien mettre, alors qu'il aurait pu y avoir un effort de thématisation comme sur d'autres attractions pas plus dignes de Disneyland (je pense à Mullholand Madness)
Bref, on reste avec un parc où le nombre d'attractions reste à mes yeux insuffisant par rapport à un plan d'investissement de tout de même 1 milliard de dollars (et ce même si les autres nouveautés s'annoncent grandioses)

Au risque de surprendre, j'ai bien aimé Maliboomer et je n'ai pas ressenti le besoin de supprimer cette attraction. En tant que telle, elle procure des sensations sympa pour la famille et sa théma bien que minimaliste est en raccord avec cette partie de Paradise Pier. Une simple rethématisation sur un personnage Disney comme ça a été le cas pour Games of the Boardwalk, Mickey's Fun Wheel et Silly Symphony Swings m'aurait parut suffisante.
Pour moi, le vrai problème de Paradise Pier se trouve de l'autre côté du lac, avec Mullholand Madness, Golden Zephyr et S.S. Rustworthy.

Quel est le problème de Golden Zephyr? J'aime cette attraction, qui a le mérite de te faire voler au dessus du lac.

Pour Maliboomer, c'est vrai que c'est dommage de l'enlever sans rien prévoir à la place. Ce qui était sympa à Paradise Pier, c'était le côté kinétique de la chose, y avait de l'ambiance et du mouvement, avec l'enlèvement de Maliboomer ça va redevenir calme, très calme.

Ps: S.S. Rustworthy va dégager cette année.

Bah Golden Zephyr, je trouve ça moche mais ça ne tient qu'à moi (et à tous ceux qui m'accompagnaient). Ça mériterait franchement une rethéma. plus que Maliboomer qui n'était pas du grand Imagineering mais n'était pas non plus hideux.

L'enlèvement de Maliboomer est pour moi idiot . Cela fesait une des atractions type de Paradise Pier . Il nous ne nous reste que le rollercaoster a nous mettre sous la dent .

N'ayant jamais été à Disney California Adventure, je vais parler sans si être aller, donc je trouve dommage d'enlever une attraction comme Maliboomer qui donnait vraiment un esprit de vieille fête foraine, c'est sur que niveau sensation il n'y aura plus que le coaster.
Je pense qu'une rethematisation de certaines attractions de Paradise Pier en style vieux cartoons Disney aurait été une bonne idée comme avec Mickey's Fun Wheel et Silly Symphony Swings.

Je suis un petit peu perdue avec l'avancée des travaux de Red Car Trolley.

Est ce que quelqu'un peut me dire quelles sont les zones déjà faites et celles qui ne le sont pas encore? J'ai du mal à visualiser le parcours j'avoue

Bon, si j'ai bien tout suivi, les rails sont posés dans la section Hollywood Pictures Backlot uniquement (ligne rouge continue sur le plan ci-dessous). Le reste sera posé lors de la transformation de Sunshine Plaza en Buena Vista Street (ligne rouge discontinue), en 2011-2012. Par contre je ne sais pas où en est l'avancement du dépôt (qui devrait se situer tout près de la ToT)...

Dernier jour pour profiter du MALIBOOMER: le 6 septembre 2010.

Disney confirmed the closure dates of the Maliboomer and Mullholland Madness last week via a Disney Parks Blog post. We've had the close dates of these two attractions listed for some time now in our Disney California Adventure Project Tracker, but it is nice to finally have official word from Disney to confirm.


The Maliboomer is now set to close permanently on September 7 following its final day of operation on September 6.


What's interesting is that Disney isn't hiding the reason behind removing the ride, and essentially told Fresno's ABC 30 that the ride was being removed simply for thematic purposes. It's somewhat refreshing to see Disney almost candid on the topic of creating proper theme in DCA.

Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs was spotted over the weekend getting a final ride on the Maliboomer with his family. Despite his party being ushered onto the attraction from the exit gates by a Disney tour guide, it's nice to see Staggs enjoying the park without posing for an official photo op. Not far from the Maliboomer, the tacky Mullholland Madness roller coaster's last day of operation is October 11 before it closes to be re-themed as Goofy's Sky School.

Meanwhile, guests might notice a new small detail related to the Red Car Trolley in front of the Tower of Terror, hinting at how thematic details will set apart the rethemed Hollywoodland and Buena Vista Street areas from their Sunshine Plaza and Hollywood Pictures Backlot predecessors

Je n'avais pas bien tout suivi, les rails ne sont toujours pas posés dans le virage devant l'Hyperion Theater puisque les travaux commencent tout juste dans cette zone... désolé!!

RED CAR TROLLEY & HOLLYWOOD BACKLOT
The end of the Hollywood Pictures Backlot's version of Hollywood Blvd is behind construction walls as work crews begin installing the new Red Car Trolley tracks in front of the huge Hyperion Theater.

Also worth noting, the Glow Fest decorations are now removed from the Backlot as the popular nighttime dance party is now confined within Sunshine Plaza as work gets underway in the Backlot and preparations for the upcoming Tron version of the after-dark dance party get started.


The painted sky backdrop on the side of the Hyperion Theatre building has been painted over in a bright blue.


With the end of Hollywood Blvd. closed off with construction walls, guests seeking Hyperion Theatre and Tower of Terror access must go around through A Bug's Land and use the newly-opened connector path.

C'est marrant de voir que WDI utilise des plans de bâtiments "génériques" qu'ils construisent un partout dans le monde. Les trois "immeubles" de notre Hollywood Boulevard viennent en fait de Hollywood Backlot à DCA.

Ce qui signifie également des travaux sur les tourniquets de Disneyland, car il faut que tout les scanners/tourniquets soit sur le même côté droit, comme en Floride (pour que ce soit toujours la main droite). Donc tout les tourniquets de gauche (soit 1 tourniquet sur 2) vont être décalé sur la droite.

Pour le reste, enregistrement à l'hôtel pour les billets ou en même temps que l'achat aux guichets, mais si l'enregistrement doit se faire à un endroit dédié pour ceux qui ne l'ont pas fait en achetant les billets, la queue sera juste déplacée ailleurs…

En Floride l'enregistrement se fait lors de la première utilisation du billet, qu'il s'agisse d'un billet à la journée acheté à ticketing ou d'une "key to the world" remise à l'hôtel. Donc je ne vois pas où est le problème...

Bidouche64 -> ces bâtiments sont en fait des reproductions de vrais bâtiments du vrai Hollywood Boulevard, voila pourquoi on les retrouve sur différentes reproductions dans les parcs De la même façon beaucoup de façades de Studio 1 (intérieur) existent "en vrai" aux Disney Hollywood Studios.
